It is 2012, with weddings—anything goes. Many dream of the lavish platinum weddings but let’s be realistic. I recently asked a group of bride’s-to-be about their greatest stressors when planning their wedding. Money was ranked the highest.

In the US, Saturday is the popular day to have a wedding but don’t think you must follow suit. Selecting a different day of the week at your chosen venue might fit your budget or at least give you some more wiggle room.

Get creative with your reception ideas. It is not necessary that you host a dinner reception. Perhaps you want to have a champagne and dessert reception or desserts and dancing reception. Do not feel you need to have a sit-down dinner if your budget does not allow.

Determine your budget. Set your “must-haves” and get creative. Since planning your wedding is suppose to be fun, do not stress over things you cannot control.
